Neighborhood
Garwyn Oaks
Garwyn Oaks has varied housing and a neighborhood history tied to the GO Northwest housing resource center.
Garwyn Oaks is a west Baltimore City neighborhood between Forest Park, Hanlon-Longwood, Mount Holly and Windsor Hills. Live Baltimore lists rowhouses, detached homes and apartment buildings. The City’s map also identifies William McGill Park within the neighborhood’s green-space network, giving the area a small local park reference alongside larger parks nearby.
The neighborhood helped give rise to GO Northwest Housing Resource Center. The organization traces its beginnings to a grassroots housing initiative in 1999 and its incorporation to 2007. Its work now extends beyond Garwyn Oaks, connecting homeownership support with the maintenance and improvement of northwest Baltimore communities.
Its current services include education and individual housing counseling, with an office at 2300 Garrison Boulevard, Suite 140. New buyers can start with the organization’s intake and workshop information; existing homeowners can ask which service fits their situation. The center is a practical neighborhood resource rather than a promise of funding, and appointments or program requirements should be confirmed directly before a visit.
