Franklintown Road

Franklintown Road is a Baltimore City neighborhood adjoining Winchester, Mosher, Penrose/Fayette Street Outreach, Carroll-South Hilton and Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park. Live Baltimore identifies brick rowhouses with front porches and backyards. Despite the shared name, this neighborhood is not historic Franklintown village farther west.

The park corridor is a useful orientation point, but its recreation destinations need more precise names. The Friends group’s recreation guide identifies Leon Day Park at 1200 Franklintown Road as an athletic-field location in the Gwynns Falls section. It also explains that the longer Gwynns Falls route combines paved paths with street sections. A bicycle outing therefore needs a route plan, rather than an assumption of continuous woodland trail.
