Neighborhood
Evergreen Lawn
Evergreen Lawn’s front-yard rowhouses form part of the Edmondson Avenue Historic District, with regional rail available elsewhere in west Baltimore.
Evergreen Lawn is a west Baltimore City neighborhood adjoining Bridgeview/Greenlawn, Midtown-Edmondson, Mosher and Rosemont Homeowners/Tenants. Live Baltimore describes rowhouses with front lawns and tree-lined streets. Those repeated front-yard spaces are a useful feature to look for when understanding how the residential blocks fit together.
The Maryland Historical Trust includes Evergreen Lawn in the Edmondson Avenue Historic District, listed in 2010. It connects much of the area’s development to streetcar service in the early twentieth century and describes varied rowhouse designs, including wider daylight houses. The historic district includes several neighborhoods, so its name refers to more than Evergreen Lawn alone.
Nearby regional transportation is available at West Baltimore MARC station, 401 Smallwood Street. The station is a separate destination outside the neighborhood. For a regular trip, compare the route from the particular block to the station and the train that serves the destination. This gives a more useful picture than treating all of Evergreen Lawn as equally close to the platform.
