Neighborhood

Cylburn

Cylburn is a residential neighborhood near the arboretum, with several housing types and separate destinations for gardens and indoor learning.

Cylburn is a northwest Baltimore City neighborhood adjoining Levindale, Central Park Heights, Parklane and Coldspring. Live Baltimore identifies detached homes, rowhouses, townhouses and apartments. The residential neighborhood and the better-known arboretum are different geographic references, so an address advertised as near Cylburn does not automatically sit within the park.

For an outing, use Cylburn Arboretum Friends’ visitor guidance and the arboretum’s 4915 Greenspring Avenue address. Its gardens, trees and paths offer a different kind of destination from the surrounding residential streets. Follow the operator’s arrival instructions rather than assuming that a nearby cul-de-sac or wooded edge provides public entry.

Indoor spaces have separate schedules. The buildings and facilities page lists a Nature Education Center and Vollmer Visitor Center, while the mansion’s first-floor public openings are limited to selected monthly dates. The greenhouse classroom is closed to general visitors, with restroom access allowed. Check the facility you actually want to use: arriving during grounds hours does not ensure that every building or exhibition is open.
