Neighborhood
Cross Country
Cross Country combines varied housing, the Western Run corridor and a school-community partnership shared with nearby neighborhoods.
Cross Country lies beside Cheswolde, Fallstaff and Glen in northwest Baltimore City. Its residential mix includes detached houses, duplexes and apartments, as documented by Live Baltimore. Those building types create different living arrangements within a relatively small neighborhood, from individual yards to shared apartment grounds.
Western Run Park follows the Cross Country Boulevard corridor, with its mapped footprint extending across neighborhood lines. The stream and green corridor provide a useful orientation point when comparing streets. They do not, by themselves, establish a continuous accessible walking route; use identifiable public entrances and the route appropriate to your destination.
A particularly concrete community resource is CHAI’s work with Cross Country Elementary/Middle School. CHAI became the school’s lead community-school agency in July 2023, adding an on-site coordinator who connects families, programs and partners. Its school work began in 1997 and continues across northwest Baltimore. For neighborhood matters beyond school, Cheswolde and Cross Country share an association. Contact the current organizers for meeting details and opportunities to participate rather than assuming the two official neighborhoods have become one.
