Stevenson
Stevenson combines a small shopping destination on Stevenson Road with a longer history of rail connections and the Green Spring Valley’s historic landscape.
A village destination on Stevenson Road
Stevenson Village Shopping Center, at 10401–10441 Stevenson Road, brings together independent shops, a café, services and a seasonal produce market. Its compact business directory is a useful introduction to the village, especially for a visit built around a particular shop or food stop. Individual businesses set their own opening arrangements.
The Maryland State Archives’ 1941 gazetteer records Stevenson as a village with a post office and Pennsylvania Railroad connection. That historical description helps explain a village identity that predates today’s shopping center. Its old population figure is a historical observation, not a current neighborhood statistic.
A nearby site with several histories
Fort Garrison, listed by Maryland Historical Trust on Garrison Farms Court with a Pikesville address, adds another layer nearby. The state archaeological laboratory documents the stone building’s use as a colonial garrison and later as quarters for enslaved people. Its surviving fabric carries more than one story. The archaeological account is a way to understand the site’s history; it is not a promise of staffed tours or unrestricted interior access.
