Tradepoint Atlantic

Tradepoint Atlantic reuses the Sparrows Point steel site for marine, rail and logistics activity, with environmental work documented separately by EPA.

Tradepoint Atlantic is the large industrial redevelopment at Sparrows Point. Its present-day role is moving, storing and processing goods, using the former steel site’s waterfront and railroad infrastructure. It belongs to the economic geography of southeastern Baltimore County and is a working commercial campus.

Land, water and rail connections

The operator’s site overview describes roughly 3,300 acres with a deep-water port and on-site rail connections to CSX and Norfolk Southern. Its development information covers distribution, logistics and manufacturing uses. Those connections help explain why the steel property continues to support industrial activity after the mill’s closure.

The operator also identifies a container-terminal redevelopment project at Coke Point. That project is one part of the larger property; descriptions of planned facilities should not be read as confirmation that every proposed component is operating.

Redevelopment and the environmental record

EPA’s public document collection provides a separate record of investigation, cleanup decisions and environmental controls for the former Sparrows Point facility. The collection includes a 2026 Statement of Basis for the Coke Point Area alongside earlier parcel-specific decisions.

For residents following changes at the site, the operator and regulator answer different questions. One describes facilities and development; the other documents environmental work. Reading both gives a fuller picture of a property whose industrial reuse and cleanup have proceeded through multiple projects and parcels.
