Rossville
Rossville combines residential streets and a commercial boulevard with two regional anchors: CCBC Essex and MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center.
Rossville occupies a part of eastern Baltimore County where residential life meets large education and healthcare campuses. The county’s Small Area Plan 11 places the community between the Beltway and Interstate 95, with a commercial center along Rossville Boulevard. It identifies CCBC Essex and MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center as major local anchors serving people from across the region.
A college campus with a broader role
Despite its Essex name, the CCBC campus at 7201 Rossville Boulevard belongs to this Rossville setting. Its 143 acres contain health-professions simulation rooms, science laboratories, performing-arts spaces and athletic facilities. Alongside degree and workforce programs, the campus hosts the Spotlight Speakers Series, giving its educational role a public cultural dimension.
The college’s campus map is useful because an admissions appointment, performance and athletic event may lead to different buildings. CCBC identifies LocalLink routes 36, 56 and 62 as campus connections, and allows parking in nonreserved white-lined spaces under its posted campus rules.
Connections within the community
The county plan also identifies gaps in pedestrian and transit connections between residential areas and these employment centers. Proximity on a regional map does not necessarily mean a direct walk between destinations. Rossville’s combination of neighborhoods, learning spaces and healthcare services is substantial, but the actual entrance and route remain important parts of using it.
