Pulaski Highway Corridor
Pulaski Highway is an east-county transport and business corridor where road access and the reuse of older commercial properties shape local change.
The US 40 corridor on the east side
Maryland’s highway agency identifies Pulaski Highway as US 40, including the segment from the Baltimore City line toward Chesaco Avenue in Rosedale. This distinguishes the east-side corridor from Baltimore National Pike, the US 40 name used on the western side of the region. A road number alone may therefore be an incomplete reference when arranging a meeting or locating a business.
Understanding property reuse
The Maryland Department of Planning’s Baltimore-area assessment program identifies proximity to Pulaski Highway as one consideration in selecting properties for environmental assessment. The program supports investigation of potential environmental conditions so owners and public agencies can make better-informed decisions about reuse.
That work is part of the corridor’s changing commercial landscape. An assessment is an information-gathering step; it does not establish that a property has been cleaned up, approved for a particular use or redeveloped. For residents and businesses following a specific site, the property address and current project documents are the useful references. The highway corridor provides the regional context, while each property has its own history and review process.
