Area
Oregon Ridge
Oregon Ridge pairs woodland trails and nature interpretation with a separate lodge area; current trail notices are an important part of planning a visit.
Start with the nature center
The Friends of Oregon Ridge identify the nature-center entrance at 13555 Beaver Dam Road in Cockeysville. The organization supports a county park and nature center with programs, exhibits and stewardship work. The lodge is another facility within Oregon Ridge, managed separately, so an event address may lead to a different part of the park.
Current notices identify a closure on the Red Trail steps between the pipeline and lake, and a closure of the Orange Trail behind the lake. The Friends’ site supplies an alternative connection for the affected Red Trail section. Check the current map and notices when choosing a route, especially when following an older printed trail description.
Choose the kind of visit
The visitor guide describes nature play spaces, picnic areas and a StoryWalk developed with the public library. It also distinguishes the outdoor grounds from the nature-center building’s hours. Swimming, fishing and personal watercraft are prohibited, and bicycles are not permitted on trails. Oregon Ridge works well as a place to focus on walking, natural history and scheduled learning activities.
