Kingsville
Kingsville combines volunteer-led civic life with nearby access to the Little Gunpowder’s historic mill landscape.
A community organized around service
The Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company traces its beginnings to a 1954 public meeting at Kingsville School. Residents raised funds, organized training and obtained their first engine before establishing a permanent firehouse. The company’s account follows later expansion into ambulance service and the inclusion of women in the organization. Its current physical address is 11601 Bellvue Avenue.
The mill landscape across the county line
Nearby Jerusalem Mill is an important place to understand the area’s earlier economy. The Maryland Historical Trust district record places the village on the Harford County side of Little Gunpowder Falls, centered on the mill built in 1772. Its Kingsville mailing address should not be mistaken for a Baltimore County location.
The Friends of Jerusalem Mill provide current information about the restored village and its interpretation. The mill, blacksmithing and other surviving buildings help explain a rural industrial community whose work depended on the stream. Use the operator’s current visiting information for building access or demonstrations. Kingsville’s civic institutions and the nearby mill village offer distinct routes into local history.
