Hydes

Hydes brings Long Green Pike’s agricultural history into view through an established winery and a parish with two centuries of local records.

Wine growing on Long Green Pike

Boordy Vineyards’ history connects its Hydes farm with the winery licensed in 1945 and the Deford family’s ownership from 1980. The business combines vineyard work with production and hospitality at 12820 Long Green Pike. Its present setting includes restored agricultural buildings as well as the newer winery.

The visitor page offers wine flights and private guided tours, with reservations required for tours. Age policies vary by day and event: families are welcomed on selected days, while other visits are restricted to adults. That distinction matters when planning a mixed-age outing; use the current visitor rules rather than assuming every winery event has the same admission conditions.

Another long-established institution

Farther along Long Green Pike, St. John the Evangelist’s history exhibit traces the parish from its 1822 beginnings through successive church and school buildings. The exhibit is housed in the Koontz House and is described as available by appointment. Together, these institutions show different ways Hydes preserves and uses its rural history: continuing agriculture, hospitality, worship and local historical interpretation.
