Hereford
Hereford pairs York Road library services with several entrances into the wooded Gunpowder Falls landscape.
A community resource on York Road
The Hereford library at 16940 York Road serves as a practical indoor anchor in northern Baltimore County. Its amenities include The Hive creative space, a sensory exploration zone, a study room and quiet area, public computers and electric-vehicle charging stations. The branch calendar identifies specific workshops and activities, while the library itself offers a place to read, work or find local information.
Several ways into the Gunpowder landscape
The nearby state-park area shares the Hereford name, but it has no single entrance that reaches every trail. DNR’s Hereford Area directions describe separate access from Masemore Road, Bunker Hill Road and Falls Road. Selecting the trailhead is part of choosing the outing, especially when meeting someone arriving from another direction.
The Gunpowder Falls State Park guide describes a substantial wooded trail network in the Hereford Area. Its natural-surface routes differ from the former railway corridor elsewhere in the park system. That distinction gives residents useful choices: library programs along York Road, a particular river-valley trail, or a separate rail-trail excursion. The shared Hereford label connects these resources without making their entrances interchangeable.
