Baltimore Highlands (Baltimore County)

Baltimore County’s Baltimore Highlands connects neighborhood park space with the larger Southwest Area Park and services in nearby Lansdowne.

Match the county community

Baltimore Highlands in Baltimore County has its own park and service connections, separate from the similarly named Baltimore City neighborhood. The county parks directory lists Southwest Area Park at 3939 Klunk Drive, using a Brooklyn postal address. It also identifies Unger’s Field and Northeast Highland Park at 2828 Oak Grove Avenue, with a Lansdowne postal address. Those mailing labels can obscure how resources in this part of the county fit together.

Southwest Area Park is listed at 230 acres, while the Oak Grove Avenue site is a smaller neighborhood destination. Selecting one by its actual entrance address is more useful than navigating only to “Baltimore Highlands.” The two sites support different scales of outdoor visit and should be located separately when arranging a group outing.

Library service nearby

For an indoor resource, the nearby Lansdowne library is at 500 Third Avenue. It provides a Spanish-language collection, public computers, printing and a meeting room, with a free parking lot. The branch calendar supplies current activities for children, teens and adults. Together, these park and library addresses form a practical starting set of community resources.
