Coppin Heights/Ash-Co-East
Coppin Heights/Ash-Co-East brings brick rowhouses and apartments together with university events and neighborhood housing work.
Coppin Heights/Ash-Co-East is a distinct west Baltimore neighborhood adjoining Easterwood, Mondawmin, Walbrook and Bridgeview/Greenlawn. Live Baltimore describes brick rowhouses and apartment buildings bordering Coppin State University. The university is a major nearby anchor, but the surrounding residential blocks have their own community identity.
For spectators, Coppin State’s Physical Education Complex hosts the university’s basketball and volleyball teams as well as other events. The complex opened in 2009. Use the announced event, venue entrance and ticket information when planning a visit; an athletic building’s presence does not make all campus recreation facilities freely available.
The Coppin Heights CDC’s West North Avenue project adds another way to understand local investment. It documents rehabilitation and resale work on corridor homes, alongside the mixed-use Walbrook Mill property. This is ongoing work across a larger area, rather than a guarantee that a particular property is ready to buy or rent. Residents can use the CDC as a starting point for project questions and the university’s own calendar for campus activities.
