Neighborhood
Arlington
Arlington’s mix of houses, school investment and community housing work gives it a distinct place within northwest Baltimore.
Arlington is a Baltimore City neighborhood beside Woodmere, Glen, Pimlico Good Neighbors, Langston Hughes and Central Park Heights. Live Baltimore documents detached homes, duplexes and rowhouses, including properties with yards and off-street parking. The useful comparison is the particular property and block: the neighborhood contains several different housing arrangements rather than one uniform streetscape.
CHAI describes housing rehabilitation work in Arlington through its Single Family Homeownership Program and partnerships on housing for families and older adults. This is evidence of an organization working locally, not an assurance that a particular home is available or that every buyer qualifies for assistance. Ask the program directly about current opportunities.
Another tangible investment is Arlington Elementary School. The Maryland school-buildings program’s 2021 report records the opening of its renovated and expanded building in September 2019, including a Weinberg early-childhood center. That building history helps explain the school’s role as a neighborhood anchor. Families should use current school information for enrollment and programs, and treat the campus as a school facility rather than an unrestricted public recreation site.
